It’s Friday – so it’s time for another Top 5… and the weather is letting us know it is most definitely October, so here’s our top 5 Halloween activities along the Yorkshire Coast.
There are various schools of thought when it comes to Halloween – there’s the celebration of light (e.g. pumpkin making) or there’s the scare yourself silly theory. We think we’ve got both options covered here with something for everyone to look forward to.
Harry’s Halloween Maze
Harry’s Diner, Muston Garage, Scarborough Rd, Muston, Filey YO14 0EH.
This is definitely one for the ‘scare yourself silly’ brigade! Harry’s Diner is a cool American style diner on the main Scarborough Road in Muston. They have really thrown themselves into the Halloween season with a spooky maze in their outdoor space at the rear of the diner. You also get 20% discount in the diner to calm your nerves before or after your maze experience.

Spooky Sewerby
Sewerby Hall & Gardens – Sewerby, Bridlington YO15 1ED.
Sewerby has 13 events going on throughout the half term, so whether you want to scare yourself with the spooky gardens or join Rusticus to work on your wizarding skills or hunt for ghosts, plus a host of craft and lantern making activities too.

Pumpkin Festival
Redcliffe Farm, Lebberston, Scarborough YO11 3NT
Redcliffe Farm offer the opportunity to pick your own pumpkin – so no making do with the tiny ones left over in the spermarket. Also get your disco party spirit on with a kids Halloween party with DJ Dave Marshall and for the adults, live music from Utah Saints!

Humble Bee Farm is hugely popular with littlies. Have fun picking your own pumpkin and getting creative with your carving (extra bonus of no mess in your own kitchen!). Then explore the Halloween trail.

Illuminated Abbey

Talk about a celebration of light, Whitby Abbey certainly delivers that with some Victorian Gothic-inspired entertainment thrown in.

Ghost Tours
Scarborough Castle, Castle Rd, Scarborough YO11 1HY
This is another one for the ‘scare yourself silly’ gang. A ghostly guided tour around the castle after dark. This is recommended for ages 16+ only.
