Greek Mythology – The Trojan Wars

Greek Mythology – The Trojan Wars

It is often said that the Greeks pretty much invented everything. Whether they actually invented storytelling or not I don’t know. But one thing you cannot deny is the fact they really knew how to tell a tale. They threw everything into it. Love, loss, battles, heroes, heroines, monsters, gods and adventures galore. One of my favourite films as a kid was Jason & the Argonauts (an ancient Greek tale). The skeleton battle was ground-breaking for its time, though it looks positively cartoon-like next to today’s CGI techniques. It’s still a great film, fundamentally because it’s a great story.  https://youtu.be/C-ZQGRM7GW0…

Falling Foss – An enchanting walk for all the family with fabulous food to boot!

Having visited as a child, I remembered standing in awe of the enormous waterfall before me and feeling like this was a truly magical place. Returning now as a mother to an adventurous five-year-old (with my mother also in tow), we took the two-mile circular walking route starting from May Beck car park, which has the bonus of meandering right outside Falling Foss tea gardens halfway around. Falling Foss - May Beck Car Park The first…

Ale…a mans (and dogs!) best friend

Ale…a mans (and dogs!) best friend

Ale, my friends, is the new Prosecco… well, not entirely, but the story behind this amazing local brewery is right up our street! Nestled in the heart of Whitby is the Lady Luck Brewery that has been brewing delicious ale for many years. Now, I can't profess to be the ale drinker in my house, that is a role passed onto my willing participant of a husband, but if you haven't tried it before, it probably will surprise you! Ale isn't all about pairing with a packet of crisps and a pickled egg. No! Brewing has moved on, and so…
