Wave on the wacky racers at Bridlington’s Super Soapbox Challenge on Sunday 2nd October!

Sunday 2nd October will see 20 fearless teams participate in the wacky downhill cart races on South Marine Drive in Bridlington.

This free community event has been funded by Yorkshire Coast BID to bring a boost to visitors to the area following a fantastic summer season on the Yorkshire Coast.

The event will be waved off at 11 am by the starting ramp on South Marine Drive and finish at 5 pm.

Spectators will be able to see the teams compete for trophies over and above the best times, such as “Most Innovative Cart Design,” “Best Turned-out Soapbox crew”, and even “Joker of the Day!”

Individuals and teams taking part will be able to use it to raise money for charity, and schools and charity partners will be at the event raising funds for their services, including the Bridlington RNLI and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance will be bringing its helicopter simulator trailer to the event. The hi-tech vehicle was specially designed and built to allow their fundraising teams to bring a state-of-the-art educational experience out on the road and into communities throughout Yorkshire.

The RNLI is raising money to continue their invaluable work in helping to save lives off the coast in and around Bridlington.

Andrew Pearson, events marketing director at the organisers, The Super Soapbox Challenge Company, said: “There’s a real sense of excitement building up now, with teams working hard on building and refining their weird and wonderful racing machines for what we’re certain will be a really fun-packed and enjoyable day out for the family.”

Please follow this parking advice to ensure you have the best day possible.
