From Perfect Places 😍
As a lover of independent retailers, I have always had a soft spot for Whitby and fancied a trip out to start off my Christmas Shopping. I think it’s the charm of the cobbled streets and being able to discover unique gifts that I know would be perfect for my loved ones.
I started off down Sandgate and the fabulous window displays at Doorstep Adventures caught my attention. On entering the shop I received a warm, friendly greeting that instantly made me feel welcome. Everything in the shop is displayed beautifully to inspire you, I knew instantly that I would find the perfect gift here!
I found a gorgeous selection of scarves and hats for ladies and gents and the more I kept looking, the more gift ideas I found. I was thrilled with my choices, I thought I would be searching for that perfect present for a much longer time, especially for this particular person. I felt so at ease while browsing, which I personally really appreciate. this is the product of excellent customer service and the product information on the unique items.
However, as I headed back to Scarborough, I had a niggle. I kept thinking I wished I had purchased a gorgeous piece of jewellery I saw. I knew they had another shop situated at The Sands on the North Bay (breath-taking views across the Bay is a treat) so decided to see if they stocked the jewellery there – I had to stop the niggle in my head!
I met the owners Rachael and James, and of course, puppy Mabel who is just adorable. 😍. As I browsed, we talked, and Rachael told me their story. They wanted a shop that reflected its beautiful surroundings and sold lovely coastal inspired products.
They work hard to handpick collections of clothing and footwear, including Seasalt, White Stuff, Brakeburn, Kusan, Crocs and Hey Dude shoes bringing together different and unique offerings.
Their aim was to make all three of their shops (Shop 3 is on Sandside by Scarborough harbour) lovely, relaxed places to browse, with a constant flow of new and exciting products and they have absolutely achieved this.
They are becoming a more sustainable business, taking steps to minimise the impact on the environment, reducing and recycling packaging and sourcing more sustainable and ethically produced products.
I felt so inspired after meeting them (and happier that I had found my amazing gifts) that I looked them up to read more about their story.
So, all in all, a great day, with some great buys and a business I’ll definitely be visiting (and raving about) again!
