LYC Indie Shout Out

This July we’re giving a shout out to all our fab indie businesses on the Coast. We hope you’ll join in and share your favourites too so we can all show our appreciation for the amazing diversity and service these guys offer us.

For starters here’s our Top 5 indie places to add to your stop-off list:

1. Best for Breakfast – The Beach Hut, Bridlington

This fab little diner is not only perfectly placed on Brid’s North Marine Drive with views of the sea, it has perfected its breakfast offer using only the best local ingredients. The smashed avocado and tomato will not only appeal to vegans but who wouldn’t love this mouth-watering ensemble. The breakfast menu is fairly extensive but they also do a mean burger – again all sourced from local suppliers.

2. Best for Afternoon Tea – White Lodge Hotel, Filey

Mentioned more than once on LYC, this stunning location on Filey’s South Cliff is the perfect spot to indulge in a classic afternoon tea experience. Delivered to perfection with all the essentials (clotted cream scones, mini selection of sandwiches and mini cake selection) served 1-5pm Mon-Sat.

3. Best for Seafood – Cafe Fish, Scarborough

When it comes to seafood, it just has to be Cafe Fish. The owner & chef Kyril takes great pride in personally selecting the best from the day’s catch at the early morning fish market. Each catch is personally prepared to bring out the best flavours. It’s a must for seafood lovers.

4. Best for Families – The Royak Oak, Hunmanby

Finding the perfect family-friendly foodie spot can sometimes be a challenge. You want somewhere that has great food for mum and dad, good choices for the kids and plenty to keep them happy, while you can sit back and chill for a bit. The Royal Oak between Filey and Hunmanby certainly has all of this – with loads of space and function room too, its the perfect spot for an extended family gathering.

5. Best for a special occasion – The Star in the Harbour, Whitby

The Star could easily be a contender for the best seafood spot but its menu offers much more than that. With its lovely location, looking out over Whitby harbour with the Abbey in the background and their lovely twinkly light atmosphere, we think this is the perfect spot for a special occasion meal – a real treat.
