A warm welcome at The Coachman Inn

The Coachman Inn looks like it is straight out of the set for Bridgerton (or Jane Austin if you haven’t quite taken that regency romance leap). It is quite easy to imagine the Duke stepping down to rest his horses en route to his country estate here. Or perhaps that’s just my Regency-obsessed imagination. It was built in 1776 and is a Grade II-listed Georgian coaching inn. I simply love the fact that it is still catering to travellers’ needs nearly 250 years later!

They certainly haven’t stood still in that time – the whole place is beautifully and sympathetically modernised providing all the latest comforts. It is idyllically situated and the perfect place for a wedding – catering for up to 80 people in their event space.

However, it is their wonderful food that we would particularly like to shout about here. Most locals already know that they can stop by anytime they are open from 11 am to 11 pm to relax in one of their bars. An extensive menu and a more light bites menu are served from 12 – 8.30 pm! With a hugely popular Carvery on Sundays.

What is possibly more surprising is the extensive range of traditional Turkish dishes that they specialise in, as well as the usual pub favourites. All the ingredients where possible, are sourced locally. From the highly acclaimed local butchers, ‘Glaves’ of Brompton and ‘The Horny Cow’ of Wilton and the seafood comes fresh from Dennis Crooks of Whitby. The Christmas menu looks particularly appetizing with the option to have one, two or three courses.

The toughest decision is deciding just what to have…Good Luck!

…and if you do over-indulge and can’t quite make it home – their rooms are exquisite 🤫
