It’s a personal choice to want to buy products which are kind to our environment, that doesn’t break the bank but also are good on the eye! I have found it too easy over the last year to “click and buy” and detach the reality of how harmful items can be to our environment when looking for a quick find for others…or myself…but I am on a mission to make smarter shopping decisions. I love it when a business makes it easy!
On a particularly brisk day out walking with the dog on North Bay in Scarborough, the need for a scarf had suddenly gone up on my priority list, which made me stop and peer through the windows of Doorstep Adventures. Immediately I was captured by the displays but was keen to learn more about their ethos about protecting our coastline and the new Beach clean range.
The dog, however, wasn’t amused at my window shopping when there was a higher priority….beach….ball….run…swim! So as a good owner, I carried on my merry way to satisfy my furry friend. While his focus was on how best to tackle a wave while retrieving a ball, mine was very much on how quickly I could head on back to buy my scarf and other goodies!
So, while the dog chilled out after conquering the coast, I popped in and found out from the owners more about the Beach Clean range…and scarfs.
Needless to say, after a great chat, I left with a tote in one hand, the dog in the other, and a great sense of satisfaction. Sometimes the simplest of acts, from supporting a local business, inching a step closer to being warmer or update the home with beautiful new placemats, all made from sustainable cost and plastics taken back from the oceans, to me, personally, makes a big difference.
