The owl and the pussycat

A step back in time.

I was mesmerised standing outside the Owl and the pussycat shop in Whitby.
Whoever had dressed the window had a natural talent for creativity and flair, and I couldn’t wait to step inside.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas

As I browsed, I overheard a lady who was purchasing her items waxing lyrical about the window display and how she and her husband were due to go home the day before, however, they had stayed an extra night to enable them to visit this shop as it was closed the previous day.
How wonderful, I thought, and I expressed this to the couple as the lady left the store, it was then that I learnt the couple were, in fact, the owners, and they were thrilled to bits with this feedback as anyone would be.
The shop was full of vintage, retro gothic, and burlesque styles, a chandelier of handmade fascinators caught my eye.

It reminded me of how I scoured the shops earlier in the year trialling from one end of town to the other looking for a fascinator if only I’d known!
I came across some really stunning pieces, beautifully made and of the highest quality, including the seamstress Hell bunny and gorgeous Banned Bags.

Thanking Mark and Anita for their time and their excellent service I made my way to the door stroking ziggy their lovely dog as I made my way outside and I smiled to myself as I knew that id be back.
