Autumn Family Fun at Playdale

The Yorkshire Coast has an abundance of experiences for young children and one of our favourite places to visit is Playdale Farm. Unlike a lot of attractions, you really can spend an entire day here and with activities both indoors and out, it's not weather dependant either (always a relief). Playdale Farm - Animals Following a visit with our toddler this week it was great to see they are continually investing and have revamped and reopened their indoor play barn and incorporated a new section inside with ride-on tractors suitable for various ages, perfect timing now the weather is drawing…

Unexpected art – there’s a surprise at The Brunswick Centre

During a visit to Scarborough town, I noticed a previously vacant store in the Brunswick Centre with a vibrant window display and stopped for a look. Crescent Arts - Place Window I found a welcoming and vibrant space filled with exciting pieces of art and a cool Children's Art Creation Station, exploring the theme of 'Place' brought together by Crescent Arts. Firstly, I don't usually visit Art Galleries, exhibitions or displays. With a young family usually in tow, it's not where I would usually think to go, plus I always worry that I might not 'get' what the artist wants…

When I first heard about the Big Ideas by The Sea Festival, it felt BIG and unconventional. A festival of inspirational writers, artists and speakers talking about the town and how it inspired them would not have felt out of place in a big city. Still, for a seaside resort, it made me start to question how much did I really know about Scarborough? After a difficult year, we wrote an extraordinary letter to the North Pole this year and asked if there was a teeny tiny chance that Santa might be able to spare a sprinkling of snow and glitter... but boy, has he delivered!
